Toulouse, PSG might be missing players
By: Dave Trotter | October 16th, 2009
After the two week international break (well, a break for some at least), both Paris Saint-Germain and Toulouse FC have a number of injured players that, as of right now, might not play in Sunday’s game at the Stadium Municipal.
For Toulouse, the defense will still suffer with the losses of Mauro Cetto and Mohamed Fofano, both whom will be out for a considerable time. Midfielders Etienne Didot, Antoine Devaux and Pantxi Sirieix are also nursing injuries. Didot resumed practice yesterday and is expected to play in Sunday’s game. Antoine Devaux has been given a 48 hour rest and an evaluation of his situation will assessed today. Sirieix will more than likely miss the match.
Up front, Andre-Pierre Gignac suffered inflamation to his psoas muscle, which is located in the hip area, during the France-Austria game. Doctors will continue to examine his situation. Early reports from La Depeche du Midi say that there is possibly some rubbing of the bones in the hip area. We will keep you updated on the situation, but as of now it doesn’t seem to be serious (while personally hearing ‘rubbing of the bones’ scares me).
While Toulouse will be the walking injured on Sunday, Paris Saint-Germain might have more problems.
But, first the good news for PSG. Guillaume Hoarau has fully recovered and will play for PSG.
Now the bad news. Mevlut Erding will miss yet another match for PSG. The striker is still suffering from a shoulder injury from earlier in the year. Also, midfielder Claude Makelele is suffering from a virus and is doubtful for Sunday’s match. PĆ©guy Luyindula injuried himself while practicing tackles yesterday. There are conflicting reports on if he will suit up on Sunday. French sports newspaper L’Equie reports that he will play while La Depeche du Midi reports his return as doubtful.
